Welcome to our FAQ section, where we aim to provide clarity and answers to commonly asked questions about our practice, services, referrals, and the therapeutic process.

Our goal is to empower you with the information you need to make informed decisions about accessing our services.

If you have any additional questions or concerns not addressed here, feel free to reach out to our Client Support Team.

  • To request an appointment, a referral is not required. If you wish to access a Medicare rebate for sessions, you will need a referral and care plan that specifies which services you are eligible for (such as a Mental Health Care Plan, or Chronic Disease GP Management Plan) from your GP or paediatrician.

Please note, that Medicare rebates do not apply for sessions with Allied Health Assistants, Provisional Psychologists, Support Workers or Private Tutors at Little Souls Wellness.

To access a Medicare rebate for Allied Health services such as occupational therapy, speech pathology, physiotherapy or dietetics, you will require a referral and an Enhanced Primary Care Plan or Chronic Disease GP Management Plan from your GP.

If you wish to access a rebate with your Private Health Fund, please note that we do not facilitate HICAPs rebates on-site, and private session fees will apply. Prior to booking, we recommend checking in with your Health Fund prior to your appointment regarding rebates and eligibility.

Please note, many Health Funds do not provide rebates for sessions with Allied Health Assistants or Provisional Psychologists as they do not have an associated provider number.

  • Consent Form

Please ensure you complete our digital consent form before you attend your initial appointment. This will be sent via SMS a day before your appointment.

    Medicare

If you are eligible for a Medicare rebate, please bring along your Medicare card and a copy of your GP referral. Digital copies can be sent to info@littlesoulswellness.com.au. Please also ensure that you are aware of any out-of-pocket expenses (click here to view our 2024 fee structure).

    NDIS Participants

If you are an NDIS participant, please bring a copy of your NDIS Plan, and any important information such as your NDIS Plan Manager details.

    Initial Appointments:

Our initial appointments involve a collaborative discussion to gather important background information, discuss any presenting concerns, providing an opportunity to work together to form future session goals. Please view our Services page to find out more information about what you can expect from each service offered at Little Souls Wellness.

  • All psychologists at Little Souls Wellneas re registered with AHPRA and adhere to strict guidelines and policies throughout their practice.

Our psychologists vary in terms of their registration status, areas of interest, and years of experience.

Clinical psychologists specialize in mental health to support people with various presentations including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, anxiety, depression, trauma, and drug or alcohol related mental health conditions. Our clinical psychologists also provide diagnostic testing and assessments for a range of presentations.

General and registered psychologists have met the professional standards for full registration in Australia. All registered psychologists have completed at least six years of education and supervised training in the field.

Provisional psychologists have completed at least four years of tertiary education and are now in the final stages of becoming fully registered psychologists. Provisional psychologists engage in professional development and ongoing supervision from a Board-approved supervisor throughout the course of their internship period. Please note that Medicare rebates are not applicable for sessions with provisional psychologists.

  • We suggest consulting your primary physician, GP, pediatrician, or specialist surrounding your child’s unique needs.

  • If you planning to access funding through Medicare, NDIS, or a Health Fund, you are only able to utilize one form of funding per service. The Australian Association of Psychologists have more information surrounding NDIS and Mental Health Care Plans in Psychology Services.

Example: If you are choosing to access a Medicare rebate, we cannot process additional out of pocket expenses under your NDIS plan or a Health Fund.

  • The majority of our psychologists are registered with Healthy Minds Psychology Servies (formerly Connect to Wellbeing). To be eligible for funding, you must hold a health care/pension card or provide evidence of financial hardship (supported by a letter from your GP).

Referrals to Healthy Minds Psychological Services can be made by GPs, primary health professionals, local area health providers and any Department of Education service.

To apply or enquire about your eligibility for funding, visit Head to Health or phone the Head to Health team on 1800 595 212 for additional information.

Please note. We are only able to accept a limited number of referrals from Healthy Minds due to limited session availability and existing waitlists.

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we require a minimum of two (2) clear business days' notice (approximately 48-hours). This enables us to offer the space to clients who may be in need of an urgent appointment.

Please note, if you do not show for an appointment, or cancel within two (2) business days (48 hours), a cancellation fee will incur. Please ask our team about our Telehealth or report writing services if you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment on the day.

  • If you have been referred to Little Souls by your GP or specialist, we will usually receive your referral and contact you within 14 days.

Please complete our contact form or get in touch with our team at info@littlesoulswellness.com.au to enquire about upcoming session availability or to follow up on a referral if you are yet to receive correspondence from our team.

  • To access a Medicare rebate, you will require a Mental Health Care Plan, or an Enhanced Primary Care Plan. You can visit your regular GP, or if you don't have a doctor you normally see, any GP can create a care plan for you.

  • Please note, we only accept NDIS Plan Managed or NDIS Self-Managed referrals. We do not accept NDIA Managed (Agency-Managed) referrals.
